Not all therapists are alike. The ReFraming Parenting Program is based upon principles
that work extremely well with therapists who have training and experience
in family and relationship issues. We suggest you look for a Licensed Marriage
and Family Therapist (LMFT). An exceptional site through which you can search
for a therapist in your area is www.therapistlocator.net. Parenting Help for Troubled Teens and Children |
The ReFraming Parenting Program (12-month service) - A Process of Phases and Recovery |
System The basis of all ReFraming training and procedures rests upon the disciplines of: Responding Interacting Achieving In addition to this, a powerful system of universal values is promoted and related to all responses, interactions, and processes of achievement. |
Phases The ReFraming Parenting Program is broken down into three core phases: ReFraming Families - 3 days, live, onsite training (parents only), backed up by 12-month staff support ReFraming Unity - 3 days, live, onsite training (parent(s) and child(ren), backed up by the 12-month support program ReFraming Achievement - 12 months of coaching, training, and support services, using online forums (conference forums with 9-10 families per forum in a staff-trained parent support group), chat services, 24/7 availability for telephone staff support, etc. |
Goals The ReFraming Parenting Program is designed to accomplish the following: 1. Help troubled teens and youth overcome problems associated with ADHD, authority conflict, teen pregnancy, substance abuse, academics, peer groups, anorexia treatment, low self-esteem, etc. It is better to seek solutions now, than to wait until problems are unmanageable. 2. Empower parents to become the most important component of their child's immediate and long-term success (this is a key difference between traditional out-of-home treatment and the ReFraming Parenting Program). 3. Provide resources to teens who have compromised their academic future through poor school performance. Successful ReFraming students who eventually attend Insight Technical Academy may become qualified for college and vocational scholarships regardless of what their academic performance was before joining the program. 4. Provide a treatment option in which parents and children learn to work together, rather than in opposition to one another. Teens don't have out-of-home placement forced upon them. Instead they are provided a very motivating opportunity to display the strength and maturity to solve their own problems. In many cases, if out-of-home placement is ultimately deemed necessary, the child comes to that conclusion with the parents. Solutions to achieve become the driving force, as opposed to rash responses to crisis. 5. Empower parent(s) to organize the strength of academic, legal, religious, and other resources in their immediate community to help, rather than simply punish their child. 6. Create a relationship and an environment of strength and growth between the parent(s) and the child, alleviating and preventing antagonistic relationships, and encouraging life-changing solutions. Parents often lose tens of thousands of dollars on children who spend months refusing to conform to the norms of out-of-home placement. Such children are motivated to resist all authority in a defiant and resentful response to parent-driven placement. Whether or not out-of-home placement becomes necessary, SIM and its alliance members strive to elicit your child's strengths in the treatment process. This is best accomplished when your child's strength is recognized and respected. |
It takes time. It takes care and patience. It takes strength. |
